Roving Sommelier is passionate about premium quality regional wines. Located within the famous winegrowing district of the Columbia Valley in Washington State, USA, Chateau Ste Michelle has developed a wonderful global reputation for their flavoursome wines. The winery first came onto my wine radar back in early 2000, when I visited the winery amongst other vineyards in the Pacific Northwest region. Not only did I find these new discoveries very interesting, but I noticed the potential for world-class Syrah and Bordeaux-style red wines. In addition, Washington State’s talented vignerons have established a unique Syrah style of their own based on classical flavours, elegance and finesse inspired by the Rhône Valley in France.

The 2019 Chateau Ste Michelle Syrah delivers complex flavours of fragrant floral, cracked black pepper and spicy black fruits, with a long, elegant finish. An exciting and emerging style coming out of Washington State, based on classic Rhône flavours with rich fruit and intensity, this characterful red wine will partner roast and char-grilled meats and game dishes.
