Description

Roving Sommelier loves fortified wines, especially the iconic Marsala wines that have been produced in Sicily for centuries. Award-winning sommelier, Robert Giorgione also loves using Marsala wines, (especially the dry and aged styles) as a great alternative to Sherry, in cooking or matching them with delicious desserts and pastries and even with hard and blue cheeses, too.

Tenute Orestiadi’s Marsala vineyards are grown in relatively deep soil in the coastal area of Marsala. The winery produces a lovely range of premium quality and affordable white, red, and fortified wines from local grapes.

Authentic expression of centuries of history, Marsala Vergine, presents itself with golden yellow hue tending to amber. The bouquet is complex and intriguing with layers of wood combined with spicy nuances of vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, toasted almonds, dried figs, and tobacco. The palate is harmonious in alcoholic structure, powerful, dry, and complex.

Moderately dry, fresh, and balanced wine that is perfectly suited to the typical sweets of the Sicilian tradition based on ricotta or almond, and to blue or aged cheeses. Best enjoyed in a convivial atmosphere.
