Description

Roving Sommelier is passionate about premium quality Italian regional wines. Personally speaking, I think a good Chianti Classico from an excellent producer is one of the world’s greatest wines. However, unfortunately over the years, the wines of the Chianti region have been totally misunderstood, mainly owing to some cheaper producers looking to make wines of quantity over quality. Rest assured, Castellina-in-Chianti-based winery Castellare is not one of those, as it has focused on producing expressive and authentic Chianti Classico wines since 1978, the year in which it was acquired by Paolo Panerai. The wine is well-structured yet elegant and fruity with rustic charm, as a great Chianti Classico DOCG should be.

Best enjoyed with flavoursome food and in a convivial atmosphere.
