Description

Roving Sommelier is passionate about premium quality Australian regional wines. Paringa Estate is one of the leading small family producers in Australia. 2017 is their milestone 30th vintage.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from the ‘Estate’ and ‘Callanan’s Road’ vineyards. 2017 was a later, cooler vintage with modest yields. It produced good quality fruit, with fine natural acidity.

The Chardonnay was handpicked, whole bunch pressed, and the unclarified juice was fermented in new and one-year French oak puncheons and barriques. Initially it was stirred monthly in barrel, to build weight and complexity and the wine did not go through malolactic fermentation.

The bouquet has complex aromas of citrus, white nectarine, and nutty barrel ferment notes. This Chardonnay has good palate weight and texture, fine natural acidity and excellent length. Cellar up to 8 years.

Best enjoyed served chilled with or without food and in a convivial atmosphere.
