Now that summer has officially finished and we are now entering the autumn season, I thought that I would suggest a lovely red wine for you to discover. My wine of the month for September 2017 is the 2014 Etna Rosso produced by Tornatore in Sicily, Italy.
Etna Rosso is a fine red wine made from the indigenous Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, grown on the volcanic slopes of Mt Etna in Sicily. This highly aromatic and elegant red wine is vinified in tanks to preserve primary fruit aromas and then aged in large old oak barrels to give the wine more structure and a savoury edge. Best served at room temperature in a convivial atmosphere with roasted, braised or char-grilled meats, and will work equally well with a wild mushroom risotto or pasta dishes. Buon appetite!
