Roving Sommelier loves premium quality sparkling and pink wines from around the world. Even better when these expressive wines are made with love and care. For me, they’re ideal for those who prefer their sparkling wines to be playful yet serious. Cava is produced in the region of Penedes within Catalonia in Northwest Spain. Codorniu Raventos is the oldest family business in Spain, with more than 450 years of winemaking experience.

Since its inception in 1551, the business has been known for its innovation in winemaking. In 1872, Josep Raventos, after years of experimenting, managed to create a delicious traditional method sparkling wine from the three grapes that could rival Champagne. Soon this new “Cava” had captured the imagination of the whole region and made the company famous.

Anna Blanc de Blancs is the family’s tribute to the last member of this iconic family to take the Codorniu surname. All of Anna’s elegant style is reflected in this reserve cava with a minimum of 15 months ageing in bottle before release. This Blanc de Blancs Brut Reserva Cava is made solely from white grapes and displays an elegant, fruity style with lovely freshness and crisp acidity on the palate. Perfect on its own as an aperitif or with light tapas and nibbles.
