Monbazillac, Jour de Fruit, Domaine de L’Ancienne Cure, France
Fifth generation of vignerons at the family-owned property, Christian Roche lovingly tends to his vines and produces his wonderful wines by using organic methods. He took over running the vineyard in 1984 and has been making Monbazillac wines in the Dordogne Valley in South-west France, ever since. For the whites, he mainly uses Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle. As the name suggest, the “Jour de Fruit” cuvee is fresh, fruity and lusciously sweet. For me, it’s the perfect partner to the region’s foie gras and local blue cheeses, such as Roquefort. What’s more it’s a real treat with mouth-wateringly delicious desserts.
