Roving Sommelier loves fortified wines, especially the iconic Sherries produced in Andalusia in Southern Spain. Here, there are three main towns that make up “The Sherry Triangle” where sherries are produced. This Amontillado – a complex form of dry Sherry – is produced at Bodegas Gutierrez Colosia located in the town of El Puerto de Santa Maria. The wine is highly aromatic and powerful with flavoursome aromas of roasted nuts and dried fruits. What’s more this highly prized Amontillado has been aged in a solera containing large, seasoned American oak barrels for up to thirty years before bottling. Perfect served at room temperature or lightly-chilled as an accompaniment to a selection of fine artisan cheeses, top notch charcuterie e.g. Pata Negra Jamon and tapas dishes such as spicy meatballs.
