Description

Roving Sommelier is passionate about premium quality regional Spanish wines. Bodegas Manzanos is a family-owned winery that produces affordable, premium wines in the small town of Azagra in the region of Rioja, northern Spain. Celebrating the Manzanos family’s 125th anniversary in 2015, they wanted to demonstrate the true worth of their vineyards. The Manzanos family has a very special vineyard located in Azagra with the oldest Graciano vines in the Rioja region and have been striving to realise the potential of the fruit. Taking the utmost care with the vineyards, cultivated as naturally as possible, harvesting the fruit by hand; the family is making wines like their grandparents used to back in the day. Nowadays Manzanos has the advantages of modern equipment and techniques, but with this wine they have stuck to the old methods – long slow fermentation, albeit in stainless steel and ageing in the bodega for a minimum of six months. This red wine is redolent of a classic Rioja yet with vibrant fruit, a brightness of flavour, great acidity, and structure allied to freshness that belongs only to today’s best wines.

Serve at room temperature with or without food and in a convivial atmosphere.
