Located on the famous Cambridge Road in the township of Martinborough, family-owned Schubert Wines has become one of my most favourite New Zealand vineyards. They first came onto my wine radar back in the early-to-mid- Noughties, when I was wine buyer and head sommelier at Fifth Floor at Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge, London, and later at Orrery in Marylebone. I have also visited the winery in May 2014, when I spent a week in Wellington and travelled daily to the Martinborough region to explore and visit many vineyards. It was then that I met Kai Schubert, who presented me with a line-up of his eponymous wines.

I love Schubert wines for their purity and terroir expression of the unique soils and microclimate of Martinborough and the wider Wairarapa region. The Schubert Wines Selection is a project between Schubert Wines and local growers and producers. The wine is made from carefully selected grapes sourced from vineyard sites exceptional for Pinot Noir. With the Schubert Wines Selection, you discover the authentic wine style of pure New Zealand. Best enjoyed with or without food and in a convivial atmosphere.
