2016 Chianti Classico DOCG, Castellare di Castellina, Tuscany, Italy

Roving Sommelier is passionate about premium quality Italian regional wines. Personally speaking, I think a good Chianti Classico from an excellent producer is one of the world’s greatest wines. However, unfortunately over the years, the wines of the Chianti region have been totally misunderstood, mainly owing to some cheaper producers looking to produce wines of quantity over quality. Rest assured, the Castellina-based Castellare winery is not one of those, as it has focused on producing expressive and authentic Chianti Classico wines since 1978, the year in which it was acquired by Paolo Panerai. The wine is well-structured yet elegant and fruity with rustic charm. Best enjoyed with food and in a convivial atmosphere.
