Roving Sommelier is passionate about premium quality New Zealand regional wines. Craggy Range is a family owned winery specialising in the production of expressive single vineyard wines. This Syrah is based on grapes grown in the stoniest and densely cultivated part of their Gimblett Gravels vineyard. These vines have been cultivated from a heritage clone that was brought to New Zealand more than 150 years ago and produce wines with wonderful floral, pepper and black fruit aromatics, lushness and density on the palate and fine natural acidity. The wine is made as naturally as possible and aged in French oak barriques for up to 16 months. It will reward careful cellaring for a minimum of seven years from vintage. Best enjoyed with red meats and game dishes.
