Roving Sommelier is passionate about premium quality New Zealand regional wines. Founded by legendary winemaker, John Hancock in the 1990s, Trinity Hill is a premium Hawke’s Bay winery specialising in the production of expressive single vineyard wines. This authentic and unique red wine blend is based on Bordelais grapes grown near to Roy’s Hill within the Gimblett Gravels vineyard zone.
“The Gimblett” is traditionally made from a blend of five varieties. The 2010 vintage is a beautiful blend of ripe blackberry fruit with fresh blackcurrant and dried herbs on the nose. Structurally the wine dense and complex. This structure allows the wine to be very food friendly as a young wine.
Powerful, highly aromatic, yet still refined this flavoursome red wine will reward careful cellaring for a minimum of 8 years from vintage. A wonderful accompaniment to strong red meats and game dishes. In addition, I suggest you carefully decant this wine prior to service and best enjoyed in a convivial environment.
