Nga Waka is named after three hills which overlook Martinborough and is a small family-owned winery founded in 1988 by Gordon Parkinson and his son Roger. Roger, a Roseworthy graduate, now runs the estate with his wife Carol and his experience making wine in France shapes much of the style here.  They have ten hectares and are an accredited member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. Over thirty years ago the Parkinson family planted the first Nga Waka grapes in Martinborough soil. Today the wines are still shaped by this uniquely special place and crafted with care of the family.

Nga Waka is deep crimson in colour and exhibits red berry, cherry and spice flavours with underlying savoury and earthy notes. The wine is full-bodied and carries the berry, savoury and spice flavours through the palate to a soft, supple finish. This wine will improve under sound cellaring conditions for 5-7 years. Best enjoyed at room temperature and in a convivial atmosphere.
